History

The Original Pudding Company, the home of traditional handmade sponge puddings was founded in the glorious Fylde in Lancashire in 1970 by Mike Lees and his wife Christine. Mike was ahead of his time and was keen to work with local companies, sourcing natural ingredients from only Lancashire suppliers. The ethos Mike developed in the seventies is still the foundation of the success we enjoy today.

Recently Mike has been looking for a local business with a similar ethos to help develop the range further. Lathams , a family bakery started in 1974 by Gwen Latham in the little village of Broughton just outside Preston, seemed a perfect match for his business as they are renown in the area for their desserts and cakes using only natural ingredients purchased from local suppliers.

Lathams were so impressed with the puddings and the business ethos they bought the company in February 2010.

Although an octogenarian, Gwen is still very much involved in the development of products and quality standards and, along  with the next generation of the her family, saw The Original Pudding Company as the next phase in her families success. They will build the future of the entire business through the strength of each company, but ensure they continue to function and operate as separate entities.
